This is an annual weekend family cabin campout at Camp Long Lake that is a very fun, laid-back outing that involves only our pack. As a matter of fact, the only scheduled activity is on Saturday when we all go to the nearby Sunburst Ski Resort to go tubing for a couple of hours and then out to lunch in town. The rest of the time is just play time for the kids and some non-structured fun.
When: See calendar for dates and times. Plan is to have everyone that will be staying in the cabin to come out Friday night (dinner on your own prior to arrival). Breakfast will be provided by the Pack both Saturday and Sunday as well as Saturday's dinner (we're thinking tacos...). We will plan on meeting at Sunburst tubing hill at 10:00 AM on Saturday and will be tubing about 2 hours. We usually find a local restaurant to grab lunch (not paid for by pack) afterwards. It is suggested to bring along some snacks and drinks for yourselves to have for tubing and/or in the cabin. The tubing hill does have a concession stand.
Where: Camp Long Lake, N4350 Boy Scout Road in Dundee, WI 53079. This is the same location that Swamp Fox is held. Camp Long Lake is a Potawatomi Council’s BSA camp just north of the Northern Kettle Moraine Forest. Tubing on Saturday is at Sunburst Ski Resort in Kewaskum.
Cost for cabin campout: $60 for scout and parent, $40 for any additional family member for the weekend (includes tubing). If you are only coming for the tubing on Saturday it will be about $15...please pay Steve when you arrive promptly at 10:00a.m. so he can pay as a group.
Cabin Description: The Cabin that our pack has is called “Kiwanis”
Things to bring:
-EARPLUGS!!! This is a must...I’ll leave it at that =)
-Weather appropriate clothing for winter weather, tubing/ski clothing, dress in layers.
-headlamp/flashlight
-For tubing outing: water bottle, snacks and maybe a camera.
-$$: There is a concession area at Sunburst, so some extra cash is a good idea
-Sleeping bag, pillow, “comfort item” especially for the younger scouts (the bunks have
a 3-inch vinyl-covered pad on them)
-snacks and games for the cabin as there will be plenty of non-organized time
